The 12th Annual Hangar Rockin’ Festival will take place from July 5-6, 2013, on the St. Stephan airstrip. Live music and DJ’s will entertain amid the artistic landscape as the 1/8th-mile hotrod race, a motorcycle race, and a vespa run form highpoints of the weekend. The well-loved “Car Boot” Sale and a big merchandise area helped the devoted crowd keep engaged!

The largest New Orleans Jazz Festival in the Alps will take place from July 12th-21st, 2013. When jazz-fever breaks out in Lenk, renown bands from a variety of places will jam in the Kronenplatz to create a fantastic open-air atmosphere. Performances at local eateries, watering holes, and street concerts will entertain Lenk’s guests throughout the day in preparation for the fun-filled evenings at the main venue.

From August 18th - 31st, 2013, over 100 talented students of classical music will be invited to partake in an intensive, two-week music academy. Internationally recognized music instructors will teach at internationally renowned levels. In the evenings, the music professors and their students will present concerts in the Protestant church in the center of town.

On September 7th, 2013, the traditional Boltigen Farmers’ Market will take place again. An active market atmosphere will descend on the Boltigen train station commons. A delicious, hearty, homemade soup, cooked over wood coals, served from an historic, horse-drawn “chow” cart, will be added to the already wholesome atmosphere.

At the beginning of September 2013 the farmers will bring down their cows after a long and productive summer of milk and cheese production up “on the alp”. The farmers and families from the Duerrenwald farms high above St. Stephan will decorate their cows with gorgeous bouquets of flowers and ribbons and will march them all down from the highest meadows and into the valley.

Alpine culture and traditions take center stage in Lenk from October 7th-19th, 2013. The “Älplerfest” (Festival of the Alpine Herdsman) along with the selection of this year’s Miss Lenk – the most beautiful Simmental cow – count among the highlights of our mountain summer. Various workshops, such as yodeling, alphorn playing, cheese-making, and Hornussen, offer insight into the local culture and pastimes over this two-week period. The finale of these local festivities is a large Hornussen tournament.
